The Nicaraguan government is releasing dozens of political prisoners under a controversial amnesty law.
It's an attempt to free those detained last year for their role in anti-government protests..
But critics say the move has made it difficult to hold pro-government security forces accountable for some 300 deaths since protests started against the government more than a year ago.
Meanwhile the talks between the government and opposition groups have nearly come to a halt.
Al Jazeera's Manuel Rapalo reports.
